Bought this pair for some long distance urban hikes the last two Sundays (Oct 11, Oct 18) and after 44 miles I am ready for more. Since June I’ve walked over 300 miles in Los Angeles County in 20+ mile segments and I would have loved these in June.
My first pair and they will not be the last!

I love this shoe. Favorite shoe to run on, no matter if it’s trail or road. Super clean look as well.
JakeK –
Excellent shoes. Comfortable, flexible yet rigid, great style…what more could you want?!
SandyW –
These shoes are awesome. I hesitated to buy them for about a week because of the price. But, they’ve been worth it. I have 45 miles and 11,000′ on them so far on dirt, talus, and snow. I’ve only run about a mile on the road in them between sections of trail, but they didn’t feel too bad on pavement. I like the 6mm drop. The shoes feel fast and light. The rock plate adds some stiffness, but also responsiveness. The shoes still feel cushioned, though, on flats and descents. They’re a great shoe for racing and training. I’m 5’6″, 135lbs. The shoes are true to size.

My favorite running shoes I’ve ever owned. I’ve had mine for a month and have put well over 100 miles on mine on a combination of trail and road. They are still in great shape. Even white enough to wear casually still!!

These are great trail runners/walkers IF you don’t require wearing orthotics which I do. There is not enough “give” in the actual height of the shoe to allow inserting arch supports.

In general. It is a very good running shoes

These are my favorite Brooks I have ever owned. They are great for trail running or a hike. They feel fast and responsive while still having some support. The traction provided by the tread pattern is great.

1st pair of Brooks…Best shoes ever
MichaelL –
I enjoy running in these shoes. A little snug but otherwise a good shoes.
BryanL –
Light and nimble. Easily handles moderately technical trails. The drainage slits are a nice feature when crossing creeks. The dna flash makes these the trail version of my favorite racing shoe: Hyperion tempos. Runs slightly big but allows space for toe protection. Definitely my favorite trail shoe
MichaelL –
Great stable shoe, firm heel counter and wide toe box
DrewV –
I really like this shoe! Fast, fits my foot well. Traction is enough, but not too much. Feels a lot lighter than my cascadias.

I really like these shoes so far. I’m an experienced runner, but not an experienced trail runner so take it with a grain of salt – but they feel light, fast, and responsive. The grip is awesome. Have run on wet, PNW forest trails mostly so the ground isn’t too firm but I’ve found them to be plenty comfortable as well. I was worried that they’d be too minimalist and not have enough cushion and stability because of the lightweight upper and relatively thin base, but I have had no issues. I have only put about 25 miles on them, so can’t speak to durability or comfort on runs longer than ten miles yet. Otherwise I have no reservations in recommending them!

Great trail shoe for technical trails. Feels like your footing is sure and can maneuver easily on inclines, declines, rocks , roots and mud!

I’ve been running in these for just over a year now and they have helped me take my trail running to the next level! This shoe is a very nice blend of fast and cushion for crushing cruiser trails, while also giving you enough technical component to handle gnarlier terrain. A good majority of my trail runs also involve some pavement getting to and from trails (anywhere from 2-3 miles per run) and while not designed for road use, these trail shoes actually feel pretty decent on pavement. Definitely a big of volume in the shoe (especially in the toe box), but I’d still consider it a normal width shoe.
My first pair got to about 600-650 miles before I really felt like the cushion had broken down (about one year of pretty hard use and 5 50k races), so for a lighter weight trail shoe, I got what I’d consider great use out of it. I also didn’t experience any rips or seam tears on the upper, so major props there.
Re-upped with two new pairs, hoping I can get a few years of hard use of these new pairs. Brooks, please don’t make any major changes to this shoe! You’ve truly made a winner with this one.

These are great shoes. I wouldn’t use them for serious or intense trail running, but they’re perfect for well maintained trails. They’re also great for switching back and forth between dirt and pavement. I highly recommend.

Love the shoe (amazing) but changed out the laces for diff color (vs bright yellow). Great as a road or trail shoe which is really hard to find. And looks really good for casual wear. You should have laces as an accessory to buy online (had to go elsewhere).

This shoe works for me. It’s fast, it’s stable, it’s durable. I only wish it had a little more cushion for longer runs.
JonJ –
I really like the shoe but I have only used it only for 15 miles on concrete trails so far but I would definitely recommend it!
MichaelG –
Best trail runners I’ve tried yet! Super strong sole soaks up rocks and sharp edges. Good cushion and spring.

Hugs my feet like a boa! Love it.
RayleneH –
I find these shoes to be very good for the amount of running I do
Nopbot –
i love the catamounts – they’re my second pair now. they’re not the lightest shoes out there, but for trail shoes they’re getting there. i run mostly pretty fast and flowy single or double track, not too many hills but tons of roots and small rocks.
i also have some experience hiking in the alps in these.
the rock plate is great – i don’t notice the things i roll over. but the real gem is the foam. even on soft dirt it has so much pop and is so energetic and fun. not cheap, but worth every penny.
note – i’m a big guy (200 lbs) with a slowish cadence (~168-170 on trail) and i only get ~250 miles out of them.
StaceyT –
I love these! Perfect fit and nice for trail running. I’m wide in the toe and narrow in the heel. They do wear out fast, though. The fabric is worn out in many places even though relatively speaking I don’t have that many miles on them. They wear out maybe twice as fast as my Brooks Launch pair did.
