Looks good but a trail shoe without GoreTex is like a stream without a bridge! It will take you only so far. GoreTex keeps your feet dry in dewy grass, small puddle splashed, light rain, and is an essential component to making a trail shoe great! Trail Runner 1990-present!

As a Brooks Trail Runner on the Brooks Off Road Running Team, receiving a pair and testing this pair out was a major win. It is my favorite shoe to go super fast on trails of all kinds from flowing dirt to technical rocky summits or ridges. It has the feel of a speed road shoe but the technical capabilities to go over all of our favorite runs in the High Rocky Mountains. Take on your fastest time on your favorite trail in these speedy trail kicks.

I love this shoe! It’s width, tread, and support. I just wish they had different colors. It is quite dusty here in Salt Lake City so my shoes have turned brown.
ElkeR –
I looooove the confort and support of this “pricey” shoes. I would of had appreciated more colors… specially a dark color where you can hide the dirt

I’ve been running in the Cascadias for the last few years and decided to give the new Catamounts a try. So far, I’ve tested them out on a few training runs and (the true test) a 16 mile trail race.
Pros:
-Immediately noticed a difference in weight vs the Cascadias. Much lighter. There is a noticeable difference in the amount of cushioning, especially in the forefoot, which is great for the unforgiving rocky terrain of the AZ desert. My feet did not feel as tired following my 16 miler than the Cascadias.
-I feel like the whole shoe in general is more flexible than the Cascadias and moves with your feet.
-I had tons of confidence in the shoe during steep acsents and descents. Really tacky (in a good way).
-Breathable – again important here in AZ
Cons:
-Wish the laces were a little bit more forgiving (elastic) like the new Ghosts.
-For people with narrow feet, like me, it is wider than the Cascadias, therefore my feet were moving within the shoe during my first run. I solved this problem by wearing thicker socks, which was an easy solution.
-The color – can’t get past the bright white.
Overall, I like this shoe and it may become my new go to. You get a lightweight shoe without sacrificing cushion. The next test will be durability as I train for a 50 miler in December.

It performs so well over rocks and twigs. Enough ankle support but moves with you. Worth the money.

FANTASTIC for trail running long distance, love the look. Catamount served me well all summer on the trails – only wish the Catamount had Gore-tex . I live in MN and need a water proof trail runner- last winter wore the Cascadia 14. Compared to the Catamount, the Cascadia 14 was SUPER hard on my arches/weak ankles, causing some supination.

I sized up a half size. Maybe that’s just me! I find it necessary with running/hiking shoes to have enough room for swelling, walking downhill, etc. This is a great looking shoe! The material is top quality and the colors are awesome. I took them out for the first time yesterday and found myself needing to adjust the laces and tongue a few times to get the right feel.

Fit and structure of this shoe is nice. Not a ton of cushion like Ghost, but I like the stability it provides my foot. I’m giving a lackluster review on this shoe because the laces shred after 6 weeks with only wearing them 3x a week indoors. I’m so bummed! I’ve tried to get a replacement pair and can’t find anything that even remotely looks close to this and Brooks service is very, very flippant and unaccommodating. Buyer beware: replacement laces for this shoe do not exist.

I’ve ordered two more pairs of these in case Brooks suddenly changes the design like they did with the Caldera.
I’m in the military, and these have provided the best overall support for the new fitness test required.
Stability, light cushion, traction control in one shoe.
Almost too good to be true, if I hadn’t worn this pair for almost a year. #Perfection

I run for my high school team and I got these shoes cause my Revel 4 shoes were worn out. I got trail shoes instead of road shoes thinking it’s better for cross country. I forgot that we practice on the track or roads and only run trails at meets. These aren’t good for track workouts, and okay/good for roads. But they are amazing for actual trails! Given they say they are trail shoes and not road running shoes they are very good at what they are meant for. 5 stars.

Buy two pairs in case they change the design! Purchased for Utah and Arizona trips, great on slickrock, and wet steep and muddy terrain. When I get scared, I just say to myself, “trust the brooks”. These ventilate well, but you will have a pile of sand after a long day in the desert. *Tip the hotel housekeeping generously.)
I live in Oregon and the only thing missing is waterproof version for ice and snow season. Cars are slipping down the hill on ice, but I am solid in my Catamount. 4mm is perfect drop, too. Thanks for keeping me secure on the trails.

After a push from my running partner to invest in a shoe made for runners I finally buckled, and was incredibly happy.
Shaved SIGNIFICANT minutes off my running time first time I tried these shoes. The grip quality to these off road shoes is no joke.
10/10 would recommend these shoes to any runner.
DO IT! YOUR JOINTS WILL THANK YOU!

Great for my daily dog-walks. Haven’t taken them off road yet but I have no doubt they’ll be perfect! I will say they’re a little less comfy than my previous Brooks (Levitate 2) but they ARE comfortable! INCREDIBLE traction!
AliceC –
I was kind of disappointed in them for being hiking shoes they weren’t water proof shoes
TheresaB –
So comfortable but also sturdy and springy. Absolutely love these for trail running or hiking. Highly recommended!
CindyD –
I think these are a very nice shoe! I like the foot bed width front to back and the appropriate, responsive support and cushion.
ChristineJ –
I’m a senior and I use them every day to walk The traction on them are awesome, I have better balance when walking in them, I love the security I feel when walking.
Thank you!
MaryK –
Great shoe very comfortable love the color. Keep the trail miles coming thank you so much.
CatherinaS –
This is the first shoe that I just don’t have to think about when I’m running bc it fits my foot and does what it needs to mile after mile. It’s responsive and light and not overbuilt like most trail shoes feel to me. I wear my street shoes size in these, no sizing up required. I have a low volume foot overall, high instep, average toe spread and narrow heel. My heel locks in in these and I have not had a single blister or toenail issue in these no matter the terrain. I’m at 400 miles in my second pair of Catamounts and will be getting a third pair soon. Please don’t change anything about this shoe!
JElizabethJ –
I have difficult feet, long and narrow.
The Catamount, size 9 1/2 fit perfectly. They fit my heel, no slipping and yet the toe box is roomy.
Have not been on the trail, just doing a few miles on pavement they are comfortable and have enough support.
Once I hit the trails I may have a different opinion, but for now they are as near perfect as I have ever had.

Brooks were recommended years ago by my podiatrist. I have tried others but none are as comfortable and provide the right support. I used to get Ghost12 but they changed the shape, luckily these are perfect!
RobynJ –
Great trail runners. I have a slightly wide forefoot and these are a perfect fit. I actually purchased a second pair.
KMIS14 –
Absolutely love this trail shoe! It’s as described fast and I can feel the cleats dig in the dirt or sand. Will be my go to trail shoe.

Loved this sneaker tad small returning for a different size see if that works
