have purchased brooks’ shoes before, but the addiction walker permits more flexibility. its velcro straps are positioned similarly to laces, i.e., they can be loosened or tightened, then secured. dansko, also sold by zappos, designs with velcro straps, but its shoes only allow for closure. as a woman of a certain age with arthritis, i am appreciative of brooks selling the addiction walker with either adjustable velcro straps or laces. additionally, the shoes are sturdy & comfortable right out of the box. job well done, brooks (& zappos too)!

The design concept is a good one, but I had to give away the 3 pairs of shoes that I bought because they weigh a ton, are cumbersome, and are like wearing cement blocks. A friend agreed with me and recommended On Running Cloud sneakers, which I bought and find to be a dream. They are light as air and appropriately named. I also found out that they are rated the #1 sneakers in the world, and I agree.

Super comfortable shoes. My fourth pair. No mine did not wear out I had foot surgery and had to change sizes. Excellent quality, comfort and fit. Thank you. Looking forward to many more years from my current pair.

I’ve been wearing Brooks Addiction Walker shoes for several years in the lace style. This is the first pair I bought with the velcro straps. I think they might be just slightly wider and because of this are actually a bit more comfortable. The difference in the width is nothing significant and would not stop me from buying them. I’m going to order another pair in white (I bought the black). I wish they made the beige ones with the velcro strap – much easier to put on for me at my age than the lace up ones.

I’ve been wearing the Addiction Walker for years, it was recommended by my podiatrist. I look at all the pretty colored sports footware and always come back to the comfort this shoe offers. They also hold up very well under heavy use. My only wish is for more colors.

I did not receive the V-Strap style I ordered but the lace-up version of this shoe. They were extremely comfortable, the fit was perfect, and I liked the look. However, this new style changed the body of the shoe in such a way that I could not wear my AOF brace. It would not fit in the heel of the shoe. I was willing to overlook not getting the V-Strap style, but I can’t walk without the brace, so I had to send the shoes back. So disappointing.

I love Brooks! It’s the only athletic shoe I can wear. These Walking shoes are no different. Fit perfectly. Having the velcro straps is a little different but I have a bad hip and knee. So bending over to tie laces can be a challenge on some days. The velcro proves very helpful on those days.
I would recommend these to anyone who is starting a walking program or simply wants comfortable shoes to wear out in the world. Yes, the white is bright and a bit old lady-ish but I’m an old lady, so don’t care! Comfort is most important.

This shoe has helped me become more active and walk more frequently. I had to size up and get a 9.5 D instead of a 9D. The fit is extremely comfortable. To me, the cushioning is just right. I can wear these shoes all day, and feel comfortable in them. They are not a light shoe. So if you’re looking for a very light shoe, this is not it. But I would recommend this walking shoe to anyone who it’s just starting out walking. I have Achilles tendinitis, and the shoe has helped with that quite a bit.

I was tempted but found that the velcro closing was not as snug as the tie. I need a really sturdy shoe and the laced Addiction Walker is perfect for me.

You should make all your shoes in width choices. Love the shoe. I have 3 pairs and the wife has 2.

My first pair of sensible shoes! Non-slip soles. Velcro closures. Nice and cushiony. A self-gift for my 75th birthday. And they are an admission. I am accepting, with some good-humor, ageing. A runner and a cyclist both said “Good morning, ma’am” to me this morning–my hotness is now luke-warm. I appreciate Brooks shoes and just bought three pair on-line. I knew they would be true-to-size with a supportive arch and generous toe-box. They give me pep in my step. Thank you, Brooks!

Very pleased. comfortable and slip resistance is pretty good. Not the a fashion statement but not butt ugly either. I wear them for work with loose leg pants. No complaints here. Will purchase again.

I use the shoes mainly for work since it has support for my weight but light on the foot. It does not drag but there is some issues with the support near the ankle site. It doesnt grip the foot and finding it to be slippery at times with my socks.

I don’t run in these shoes I live in these shoes. The 2s are just as good as the original except the for box is little bit narrower and the sole is not as cleared therefore slicker in some circumstances. The is leads to less stability for those of us with mobility issues.
ElizabethT –
Better cushioning with excellent stability and easy to adjust with AFOs.
Wilma –
Big improvement over the older model. More cushioning for the ball of my foot, the tongue lays better, the top strap is longer and just feels better on my foot. The toe box is slightly more narrow but I think that is an improvement. My foot is weird and a size wide is to narrow but a EE is to wide. I did replace the insole with a pair of downunders but the ones that come with the shoe are better than the previous model. Still a clunky show but all in all a happy woman with happy feet.

This is the third pair I have of them. They are the best for my back pain.

To make my longer (4.5 mile) walks more comfortable, I’ve taken to wearing thicker socks from Darn Tough Vermont. The socks are great. Trouble is, the toes are so well padded that they felt cramped in by the walk’s end. What to do? Either dump the socks or buy larger shoes. As vain as I am, it took me about 5 months to admit that I should do that. I ordered 1/2 size longer shoe and left the width as it has been (B). Comfort has won over vanity. I’m taller in the shoes, too. Style plays a small part when shoes encourage walking. After all, people who keep moving keep moving.
Quicksilver –
The shoe was heavy and felt like the sole had no give. It felt like I was walking in heavy, concrete shoes. Not comfortable but I needed a shoe with a velcro tie because I had broken my left thumb. I could not tie shoelaces without both hands plus it hurt to tie the laces.
This shoe was a “port in a storm”. They used to be comfortable, good shoes that always fit perfectly. These pair were a great disappointment. Brooks you be able to make your shoes cheaper to get your costs go down, but if they no longer work for the customer, you lost them.

Perfect right out of the box. Now ordering my third pair. My orthotics fit, absolutely no discomfort with my hammer toe or bunionsl My Podiatrist really liked them.
WendyS –
So supportive with my orthotics. I love these shoes and have worn them for many years. I tried the velcro straps this time and I love them!! So much easier to adjust than laces.
RebeccaF –
These shoes are great! I have had a pilot fracture of ankle. I have hardware in my ankle, plates on both sides. These shoes help me walk miles and miles daily. My feet feel so energized. I walk my dog a lot even off trail and never rolled feet in these shoe nor tripped. I got the Velcro because I hate when shoe laces come undone especially when walking a dog that can’t wait! I highly recommend these shoes. I wear 7.5 in Nikes and that’s what I got in these and the fit was perfect. Hope this helps someone with sizing !

These shoes are true to size, and they accommodate my orthotics. I have had this same shoe in the past with laces, which I actually prefer, but the velcro makes it easy to put these on quickly. This shoe has the most cushion of any Brooks shoe that I have worn, and provides good stability for my knees.

Im too old to run, but do well walking. These shoes are great and they are the second pair I have had. I must wear shoe supports due to a bone spur and achilles tendon problem. My supports fit these shoes well and allow my tendon to begin healing. Very comfortable–no rubbing at any time. I will buy them again when it is time to replace.

I am 72 years old and have worn Brooks Addiction shoes for over ten years, but when I got Diabetic orthotics from my podiatrist I was at a loss. The shoes they gave me did not have the support I needed. I also needed very wide shoes and the velcro allows me to change the fit without redoing shoestrings when my feet swell, or I wear different socks. I have two pairs of these (white and black) and they have made the difference of truly living or suffering from bad feet. It has kept me young.
