BrianM –
This was my first pair of Brooks shoes and they came highly recommended by the runners in my family. I have to say I am disappointed in this shoe. It is comfortable if you are not going to be doing a lot of walking, which is a problem for a shoe designed for walking. The soles are thin and you feel the ground below. The bottoms of my feet hurt after a day of standing and walking. Also, beware on some surfaces if they are wet. These can be very slippery. Definitely not worth the price tag.

The fit is excellent. The shows are extremely comfortable even when worn for 24 hours (overseas air travel). I do wish that Brooks still offered the Addiction Walker in brown suede as that works better for me in a conservative work environment. Other than that, a great shoe.

Good looking shoe. Originally ordered 11.5, but they felt too short. Exchanged for 12s which worked much better.
Kathy –
I returned, sneakers they were way to small. The length & width were were off for the sizing. Very narrow toe box.
DanK –
Great addition to the Addiction Walker line-up, something with a good looking casual styling. I walk between 9-11 miles a day and these shoes are perfect as were my previous pairs of Addiction Walkers.

I actually ordered these accidently when I meant to order the Ghost, so my bad there the Addition shoe is not a bad shoe, but a bad choice for my foot. The toe box is tight, squeezing my feet, even though I am wearing a 4E. My feet are also thick, and that isn’t helping. They do not have as much cushion as my Ghost shoes, so are not pleasant to be on for a long period of time. I bought because of the color, as they are less conspicuous in a professional office environment. Really wish Brooks would take some lessons from New Balance on shoe width and toe box room.

I have used the original Brook’s walkers or years and never had any discomfort with them. I ordered the new walkers and they are nowhere close to the original ones. The new ones are OK for a while but as the day goes on they become very uncomfortable and my feet tire out and hurt from the way they ware. These are not worth the price I paid and when comparing them to the other walkers that I have used for years they do not compare. I am very disappointed because I would send them back but I have worn the outside a few times thinking they would be as good or better that the other walkers but they aren’t so i dont think i will be using these very often, and now I am out of the cost of the shoe.

If you suffer from ANY over-pronation issues at all then you need to do yourself a favor and give this shoe a try. I’ve been flat footed my entire life so finding shoes that support my over pronation w/o causing discomfort in the arch is extremely difficult. I found the Brooks Addiction series around 8 years ago and have been “Addicted” to them ever since. This particular one is the walking shoe and it’s amazingly supportive, lightweight and attractive enough- doesn’t look orthopedic. The bottom line is my feet are happy and if my feet are happy then I’m happy!!! LOL!

Awesome shoe. I have numerous foot issues such as overpronation, bunions, halas rigidus, etc, making walking challenging at best. These shoes are a godsend as the design of the shoe counters much of the issues I have been dealing with. I have since purchased two other Brooks walking shoes. Sure, they are expensive, but worth every penny as I can walk again.

This addiction walker 2 is not as good as Addiction Walker 1. However I added extra insoles to manage better the shoe. With extra insoles feels better.
KALLIEG –
I feel like the toe box is very very narrow on these. That’s the only reason that I didn’t give 5/5 stars. I am exchanging for a wide to see if that helps because they are very comfortable otherwise!

Stand on a concrete for 8 hour shifts. These have made a world of difference. Order a 1/2 size larger.

I have severe Plantar Facittis and Bone Spurs. I love my Brooks Beast 18 shoes but after reading some negative reviews on the Brooks Beast 20 shoes I ordered the Brooks Addiction Suede Walkers. Great looking shoes and they provide the support that I need for my aching feet. It feels like I’m wearing an air cast around my feet when I’m wearing my Addiction Walker shoes and that is without wearing medical orthotics that the VA issued me! If you have major foot problems like me then you can’t go wrong with the Brook’s Addiction Suede Walkers.
JAIME –
I was a loyal Brooks Addiction Walker wearer. When they were replaced by the Walker 2’s i was disheartened. The Walker Suede is awesome. It fits just like the original Walkers, a bit less heavy soled, and very comfortable.

These shoes look great and feel great. But the shoes are less than a year old and the fabric for the upper has worn through. It’s even worse when you consider that I’ve been working from home and not even wearing these as much as I would have, so they probably would not have lasted 6 months. After spending $140 on these, I would advocate that others avoid this shoe for the poor choice in materials. Personally I wish I could get my money back, not lasting at least a year with very infrequent use, is unacceptable. I hope they’re not taking the Nike path of intentionally picking materials that aren’t durable just to move more shoe$ out the door. Won’t be using brooks for walking shoes. It’s a shame because I have multiple brooks running shoes and love them.

I have worn Brooks Addiction running shoes for two decades. Due to lower back difficulties ten years ago I had to change my exercise from running to walking. I continued to use the Addiction running shoes because of their support. About 2016 I developed a tighter lower back, hip pain and some sciatic nerve pain. I managed that pain through stretching exercises. However, during the past two years, my hips and lower back became more fatigued as I walked. In January 2021 I began to explore walking shoe. Since Addictions served me well for running I decided to try the Addiction Suede Walkers. These new walkers have not cured my pains but I have experienced a noticeable improvement in how much longer I can walk and stand in the walkers. I. Like the suede. They are comfortable and feel lighter yet supportive. The same size I used with the running shoes works for me in the walkers. As other customers have stated, I would like to be able to buy walking shoes in a brown leather to wear for dressier occasions if you would manufacture them. Thank you for serving my needs over the years with the line of Addictions.

I have flat wide feet and need a 4E. This shoe provides all day comfort. Great upper and arch support. Great walking shoe.
Jeff –
If you have flat feet and/or pronation issues, if you need/desire a shoe with a supportive foot bed then this is the shoe for you. I have been the unsatisfied owner of flat feet for almost half a century, foot issues necessitate that I now walk instead of run for exercise. These shoes are made for walking, they are both supportive and soft at the same time. Yes, these are expensive, but you get what you pay for, I can assure you they are cheaper than a visit to your podiatrist.
Melissa –
I bought these for my husband who has very flat feet. He wore them on vacation where we did a lot of walking. His feet didn’t hurt and he said the shoe provided light compression which kept his feet from swelling. I’ll be buying him another pair.

Disappointing quality. Very cheap material around the tie, began fraying quickly and now has developed a major hole after moderate use. Doesn’t even compare to the old leather model that lasted more than twice as long with heavy wear.

wrong size sent, not able to try on…will be returning
SeyboldP –
The original Addiction Walkers were the best shoe I’ve ever worn. The Brown Nubuck style was a perfect winter shoe for the Pacific NW, I wore little else.
These are too thin to be a winter shoe, aren’t nearly as comfortable, and not nearly as good for plantar fascitis and flat feed. They aren’t as solid either. I’ve spent thousands on these–though not cheap, I never regretted it. Won’t be buying any more of these, they seem in truth a completely different shoe (yeah, they look really cool) that should have been introduced under a different name.
Would have bought 10 pairs of the original version in black *and* brown if I’d known the style was about to be degraded. Really poor choice.
KaylaP –
I was very disappointed with this shoe. I decided to try this shoe to see if it would alleviate some of my knee discomfort and I have been using the Brooks running shoes for quite some time which I have loved. This shoe does not hold up to the standards of other Brooks shoes. I only wore it once and it was so uncomfortable I decided to return it. In fact, this is the most uncomfortable shoe I’ve worn in years. It’s at least a half size to a full size too small and it is not soft and cushiony like other Brooks shoes. The soul is hard and uncomfortable as very much contrasted with other Brooks shoes. Honestly I was very surprised and disappointed. I’m definitely returning it.
JohnS –
I’m flat footed with orthotics, this shoe is very comfortable and I can be on my feet all day.
WalterS –
I work long hours on my feet. The addiction walkers are the most comfortable shoes I have found for long distance walking.
