MARGARET –
This is one of a very few styles and makes of shoes I can wear due to various foot problems. Have worn Addiction walkers for several years. I am SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED that this shoe no longer comes in beige. No one wants to walk around in white shoes all the time, and the black are just plain butt-ugly. Am trying to find other brands of shoes.

I thought the addiction 1 was great but the Addiction 2 is equal or maybe even a bit easier on my feet. I love those walkers. In my estimation nothing beats them. I have tried others but none help my stability like the addictions. Price wise you get more for your money with Brooks Walkers. This is from a person with nerve deterioration of auditory nerves and the middle ear is severely affected.

I tried these a second time since the first ones starting falling apart rather quickly. I’m a Brooks fan, so I was thinking maybe the first was just a fluke. Beware that if you order the black leather, your feet will be stained if the inside of your shoes either get wet from rain or sweat. The stain is so hard to come off! I’m done with this specific shoe. I wish they had more black leather options 🙁

Beware!!!! Don’t buy these shoes if you need slip resistant. First patch of wet floors in restaurant I work at, the did not grip and I slid, fell, and got pretty banged up. Going to be out of work a few days. Pretty upsetting when you buy slip resistant shoes and they aren’t.

Beware of this shoe if you need slip resistant. 10minutes at work (restaurant) and first patch of wet floor I slipped and got banged up pretty bad. Missing a few days of work.

These are good sturdy shoes, but I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot right now, and it’s easing BUT these shoes were just too STIFF and deep for me. My Rx orthotics fit well into them, but I got pain in my right foot right away and the muscles in my calf the upper portion right side really strained right away.

I’ve worn Brooks Addiction Walker for several years. The new version (2) does have slightly more style & I like the soles better. To be honest, the fit feels the same as the original.
Susan –
I’m shocked at how off they were. I were Brooks addiction for 10 years. Excellent arch support. Room for my orthotics roomy toe box. I couldn’t get my foot in the #2 addition No way an orthotic. Way off. It must be a giant mistake.

I’m a dedicated Brooks wearer. I was very happy to see that this new version of Addiction Walker is definitely more stylish! However, I found that the new ones seem to runs bigger, especially in the heel. My heels are slipping and in general I don’t feel as supported as in the prior model. So, sadly, I have to return them. Interesting that people have varying comments on the fit! Loved the fit of my old white Addiction Walkers and will continue to wear them. Just wish I could also get them in black (which is no longer available).

Very comfortable just go up a size when ordering.

Fits fine, orthotics were a little hard to get in but these are very comfortable shoes.

Addition to my previous review. Tried to make these work. But, as said before, the heel slips and the shoes seem too large. Importantly, I’m adding a note about the inner sole….which seems to be the major problem because it is spongy and bouncy – much different than the original Addiction. Just doesn’t work. Very disappointed.

These Brooks Addiction Walker 2 are not the same as the original. Made me sad.

I have been wearing these shoes for over 20 years-it has been the only shoe I found that was comfortable on my foot –no longer the case. It feels like they changed the cushioning inside and lowered the toe area so it is no longer comfortable. They also squeak when I walk. Very disappointed. Not sure how I am going to replace them.

The shoe is more stylish than previous model, but Addiction 2 is too spongy and the heel slips. I think the main problem is the squashy new inner sole. The support just isn’t there. Had to return. Please bring back original Addiction. …which is a fabulous walking shoe.

I am disappointed in this shoe and had concerns that it was a knockoff. it seems to be more “plastic like” and not leather. As a nurse working long hours, I have worn the addiction shoe for almost 25 years, so have had many pairs. I feel like my feet sweat more in these than the other addiction shoes I have had, except for the runners. Perhaps I need to go back to the running shoe. That does not feel as if it offers as much support, as =in prior addictions.

Tried half size larger since my regular size felt way too small. New order felt better overall, but was too large on the heel and I kept slipping out. Will return also this pair and give up on this model.

I was worried about changes in a shoe I have worn for 15 years. They were the only shoes that don’t hurt my feet. I loved the comfort of the new Brooks Addiction Walker but the toe room is too short. Unfortunately I will have to return them. I really don’t think the next size will work, but I’ll try because I really depend on these shoes.
Captain –
For many years the Addiction Walker was my only footwear but I was cautiously optomistic about the changes. The inside blue cushion is good but the sizing is off somehow – I’m usually an 8W but now my great toes hit the top/end of the shoe! 8.5s feel clunky and my orthotics slide forward. Wish some of Brooks many designers would adjust the sizing part back to the old way.

First off let me start by saying I LOVE brooks shoes in general. So when I seen they made slip resistant shoes I was excited! In the past year I’ve spend hundreds and I mean hundreds of dollars on slip resistant shoes that just sucked. I suffer from very bad plantar fasciitis and I am a chef so working sometimes 14+ hours a day I needed not just a good pair of shoes but I needed a GREAT PAIR. I’ve been wearing them about a month and my foot doesn’t hurt like it was. Meaning I can actually get out of bed without crying because I am walking on needles feeling! The heel insole on these shoes are just amazing. I will forever buy these shoes! I did have to send back once because them seem to run just a tad smaller then what I would normally wear.. which honestly happens a lot when I am buying shoes in general! I would say go maybe half a size up then you normally would! Either way I am SO GLAD brooks makes a slip resistant shoe and I have now found my forever shoe Thanks guys!!

It’s still a great walking and live-in casual shoe, indispensable for my troubled feet. I’ve bought multiple pairs in all 3 Women’s colors for at least 20 years. I was very disappointed by the absence of the Bone color in my size, 7.5 D, both at Brooks’ and all other online stores I’ve searched. I would be glad to know when that color become available again–or if it never will, so I can try another brand.
NYCShopper –
Brooks Addiction 2 does not fit the same as the Brooks Addiction Walker walking shoe I’ve been wearing for at least 10 years in 7EE. Every year I would buy new pair. When I saw Brooks discontinued original I tried Walker 2 to my dismay they are shorter and narrower than original. Why would a company change a shoe I buy consistently annually for past decade? Because they think we no longer like the original Walker and want a shorter narrower fit? How shortsighted of Brooks. For now, I sized up half size to 7.5EE in Addiction 2 even though new pair doesn’t fit as well. I am looking for replacement brand but, no luck so far. Brooks Corporate if you’re reading this, please bring back our original fit! Our feet have not changed.

I feel weird writing a review of a shoe I sent back, but I could tell it would have been the best walking shoe ever if it had been a tad longer. Since I’ve sized out of an 11 and am not quite a 12, it’s been a trial because sport shoes usually run short. I could have deluded myself that it I cinched the laces tighter, my left foot would stay back, and they would work. I’ve lost too much money that way. Because my ligaments are loose, my foot tends to spread out, so that may be it too. Maybe the heel was a bit too wide. You just don’t know til you try shoes on whether a half size up or a whole size will do the trick. They were actually narrow too. The construction of these shoes are fantastic and supportive, so if you need up to an 11 or an 11.5, they could work.

This is definitely a better-looking shoe than its predecessor. However, there is no way I would wear it in public, because it is ridiculously loud. Like noticeably, every step you take, “WHAT IS THAT ANNOYING SQUEAKING NOISE?” kind of loud. So sad–was looking forward to enjoying a new pair of these.

Size up!!! As so many others have already said, the Addiction Walker 2 runs SO MUCH SMALLER than the original version. Have worn the original for years, always a size 9B. Was disappointed to learn the original was discontinued, however thought I’d take a chance on the “2” version. And before ordering, I read the reviews, many of which indicated to size up. So I ordered a half size larger, as the Zappo size guide suggested for this shoe. But even the 9.5 was too short. For me, a full size larger (size 10) is needed…and I have NEVER worn a size 10 shoe or sneaker before. Other than the sizing being so off, the shoe is nicely made, feels like quality leather, has comfortable padding and good arch support. Wish it was available in black in the size I need. Why on earth would Brooks not only change such a popular shoe but completely revise the sizing is a mystery.
