Thank you, Brooks, for updating these shorts! I bought two pairs last year because of the 7 inch length, but they were lacking. The style was kind of boring, and the shorts would ride up during my runs. Also, the liner was a joke – way too small. Anyway, I needed another pair of shorts in a hurry, so I just ordered these again. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that these shorts had been given a makeover. The lining is much wider and more quality. I can now wear them without my own panties. I love that you added a drawstring, vents, additional gel or key pocket, and a sportier fit, but kept that length I am loving as an older runner. These have gone six miles so far without riding up. Curious to see how they do when the humidity is off the charts. For reference, I’m a pear shaped gal with junk in the trunk. I’m working to lose my Covid weight, and when I do, I’ll be happy to order more of these in a smaller size.

The fit in the hips was fine, but the waist is a bit tight–and it’s the shorts, not me! I checked these against my other shorts of the same size, and these are smaller.

I like the length of these shorts. I got them to wear as a swim bottom. They dried quickly. They are a little poofy all around. They do have a cord to tighten. If I would go down a size, the leg holes will be too tight.

So happy to have a loner short. Great for running and tennis!

I love the newest version of these shorts! In fact, this is my second pair. The length is perfect, the higher waistband more comfortable, and the added back waist pocket holds my iPhone so it’s not bouncing around in a front pocket. Great job Brooks!

if you have thick thighs and butt, the redesign may not work for you. the small cut out on the sides is not enough to prevent the material from cinching tight around my thigh when I am in a sprint or turning. the previous design was weightless and I never felt any impingement on my movement. the overall cut is smaller IMO and the air vents built into the waistband are not practical because it is so snug.
the drawstring is a nice addition but adds to the impingement when I am at maximum stride length and the shorts would be pulling down slightly on my hips but pull on the top of my quads instead.
i do like the purple/navy matrix color. It’s very flashy.

Great fit, size and material. The colors aren’t bad either. I’m 5’9” with a 32” inseam, so I love the length.

These shorts fits great and move great. I wear them on my 5 mile walks…. I have worn them three times and was so pleased that I went back to Zappos and ordered two more pair. I love them. Wash and dry great too. The built in panty fits me perfect. I am 5’10”, 140 lbs with a 34″ inseam – so the 7″ length is perfect for me and size small works great! I am 66 Years old and do not like a really short short at this point in my life but I also do not like a really long short.

These are so comfortable and work as running shorts or regular shorts. I love the pockets. I’m normally a size 8 but I sized up to a large. They are a little loose but the mediums were too tight in the hips.

I had bought a pair of these shorts before, and I liked the earlier model better. The front pockets on the new version no longer accommodate an iPhone safely (it keeps wanting to fall out); the back “phone pocket” is not very handy. And the frou-frou scallops on the back are pretty silly on running/hiking shorts. Brooks should have stuck with the earlier, plainer, more functional design. But the fit and comfort are good.

So comfortable, yet flattering! Gives extra length so I can do lots of stretching and still be modest.

I like the length and fit of these shorts, very lightweight material, slightly clingy when wet, but very comfortable. The waistband could be slightly higher for me…I am on the chubbier side and got an XL.

Found these while on vacation in a Scheel’s. Bought two pairs in Fargo, and ended up buying more from this site when I returned home. I’m not 20, or even 30 anymore, so my legs don’t need to be seen in the typical 5″ running short. I’m much more comfortable in these 7″ shorts. They have pockets, they seem well made, the material is soft and they are oh, so comfortable. I ditched my old Nike running shorts for these and have not been disappointed the last few months for doing so.

Nice shorts as to be expected from Brooks. Best and most comfortable running short in my opinion. I ordered the xsmall. 5’5”, 110lbs. Fix was perfect.

I usually wear a size 4, so ordered the 4-6, of course they were a wee bit large because of the range of sizes that was indicated. But, I love them, have them on right now. I am a walker, 4 miles per day and they are so comfy, love the pockets and the waist band, and that they are 7″ length, (hard to find longer shorts). They wash up great, and just hang to dry. I ordered them in black, but may need to order another color also. Thanks Zappos!

I am 5’8″, 170lbs, the upper side of size 10, large bottomed. I have these in large, which are very comfortable and I continue to wear around the house, but have stretched to become just a little too loose to feel comfortable using for exercise. I feel like they are falling down (though they probably are not).
I decided to try the mediums, which I felt was too drastically smaller than the large. After wearing them for an evening, I felt they did loosen up around the butt and thighs nicely, hanging slightly loose around my thick thighs, but hugging the rear. The waist however was still uncomfortablely tight. Fine for running, but certainly not for lounge wear.
I am hoping and am optimistic (based on my experience with the size large) that over time the waist will become more comfortable.
I’m not super crazy about the style of these 7″ shorts in comparison to 5″ ones that I own, but I love that they solved a lot of chaffing problems.
The materials is light and I find it breathable enough. Has plenty of pockets (the sides stick out in an un-attractive way on me but I still prefer having them), including the large phone rear pocket which I constantly use for my average size smart phone. (It’s not a zipper pocket, but it still holds my phone firmly.)

Has pockets and doesn’t scrunch up between my legs. Not very pretty, but I wasn’t buying them for aesthetics.

I’m a plus size (2X) so my comments might be specific only to larger sizes… I was so happy the 7 inch length didn’t look as long and awkward and slanted when I tried them on as it does on the model. Maybe since it’s a wider size it looks more squared off. But I’m really happy with this length and cut. Being a plus size and also 6 ft tall, shorts are tough for me but these were a pleasant surprise. Almost no riding up when walking. No shrinking in the wash. And I feel covered enough but still feminine.
As soon as more colors are back in stock, I’m getting more. I also really like the 5 inch and really didn’t notice much difference when wearing them.

I tried the 7″ length shorts because thought it would be good to have more coverage so that I’m not self-conscious while working with my personal trainer. But being 5′ tall, the length and the biased cut just make them look goofy on me. They do seem like good, functional, light weight running shorts though. I actually prefer the 5″ Chaser shorts, so I will keep those and return these. I like the Chaser 2-in-1 shorts as well, and those address the modesty situation also.

Finally, shorts that don’t get gobbled up by my thighs! These super comfy, flowy, lightweight shorts are the best!
I got size XL. I’m 5’4”, 230 pounds.
Evelyn –
I love them. Been looking for years for shorts that are not too short and not baggy. And I like the lining.
Nannee –
I like the longer length and wear these shorts for hiking.

Thighs meet your match! If your a woman whose thighs touch and can never seem to find a pair of shorts that won’t ride up while you walk/run, then these are the shorts for you. For the first time in my life I was able to do a workout in shorts that were not compression. It was amazing! I highly recommend these. Since I have larger thighs, I did go up a size, I’m normally a size 10, and while the M did fit, I went up to a large so I would get that flowly breeze while working out.

I already have a few of the 5″ and wanted to try these too. I love them! A little more coverage, plus regular pockets on each side. I wear these running, but also working around the house, in the garden, and so on. Higher waist is definitely more comfortable and flattering, and they are light and don’t have any pinching, seams, or binding anyplace, just like the 5″. Perfect running shorts.
SK8 –
These are almost THE perfect lightweight shorts. I love the built in panty, it fits me perfect. I am 5’9″, with a 34″ inseam and usually wear a 4/6 pant. The 7″ length is awesome and the size small fits me great! I usually wear these paddle boarding, jogging or skating when I’m not feeling my shorter length running shorts on my fit but mature 59 year old body. My only negative is that the side hand pockets really aren’t deep enough or secure enough to hold much of anything (adding hidden zippers to these two pockets would definitely make these MY perfect shorts).
